Hydromer® Lubricious, Anti-Thrombogenic,
Biocompatible Coatings
The Hydromer coating is a hydrogel material
made by the interaction of
poly-vinylpyrrolidone with one of several, proprietary isocyanate
prepolymers. The
interaction of the isocyanate prepolymer with PVP renders the PVP water
insoluble but
swellable. The contact angle of wetted films of Hydromer
is
approximately zero. Friction is virtually eliminated. Hydromer
coatings can be
applied to almost any surface and any geometry. They show superior
adherence to most
surfaces via a gentle thermal cure and can complex or react with many
drugs for site
specific delivery. Unlike our competition with a one
coating/process fits all,
we work with you to develop the best coating and process to fit your
needs and budget.
Key Benefits
- A long history of safety and success in use by many major
device manufacturers in urology, cardiology, neurology,
gastroenterology and orthodontics
- Provides a slippery surface when wet, reducing trauma for
patients and improving ease of insertion for clinicians
- Reduces the tendency of platelets, proteins and
encrustation to adhere to a surface
- Tests have shown that bacterial adhesion is significantly
decreased, reducing the likelihood of infection
- Easy to apply and cure without damaging your device.
- Can be used on complex surfaces and inner lumens
unlike competitive coatings - gentle heat is used to cross link and
covalently bond the coatings- line of site and tight dimensions are not
an issue!!!!
- Very Cost Effective, Safe and PROVEN! Used Worldwide
for over 20 years!
- Can complex drugs or other therapeutics for site specific
activity.
For
- Guide wires
- Catheters
- Stents and Shunts
- Probes
- Balloons
- On almost any substrate material including polypropylene,
gold, nitinol, stainless, PEBAX, etc without distortion or changes in
mechanical properties.
